Bharat Matha Ki Jai!

Hello and welcome to good ole co-author-of-this-blog Jishnu's first post...some of you seem to doubt my abilities to make any significant contribution..and by hell, you're right..my sis already wrote about tea...which leaves me with omelette,bulls-eye and bread-butter-jam :D And so ive decided that theres no real need to write about something you already know of. ( Honestly..just take a look at the topics so far..chappatti..tea..hubby nightmares? ) Im gonna let you in on some of the lesser known facts of Trivandrum cuisine..you may not have guessed, but im talking about Indian Coffee House!
*Drum Roll* *Crash* *Wild applause* *Good ole Jishnu bows to the crowd* *Thank You!*

Now to start things off..Indian Coffee House? You serious Jishnu? You really believe Indian Coffee House is the pinnacle of Trivandrum cuisine? My oh my..you better get your taste buds tested..cos you believe beetroot curry stuffed into every known food to man is the absolute pinnacle of Trivandrum cuisine..!
Guys..heres how things really are...the process of eating is not merely aimed at powering-up your system..its a holistic and spiritual experience...and i tell you now..Indian Coffee House is THE place to go with your friend if you wanna relax and communicate...spending not more than 30 bucks..30 Indian rupees..picture that if you will, my dear NRI cousins :) Hardly one dollar..

Now heres what I like about Indian Coffee House..
1) Cold Coffee
Indian Coffee House has a special preparation of cold coffee..a very fluid form..packed with three times the normal quantity of caffeine...Im not kidding..but im actually scared to have more than one glass of cold coffee..cos I know I wont be able to sleep a wink that night..and one glass can be downed in one gulp..so it takes a hell of an effort not to have another..

The price of cold coffee is just 15 rupees..which another major attraction for my NRI cousins..not for me though..im cheaper than that i guess :D
Yet another attraction of cold coffee is the waiting period needed to get your order..you order your drink...the waiter just simply returns within a minute with cold coffee and the bill..pretty hard even to imagine such efficiency in these parts..

2) Waiters
Indian Coffee House has the best waiters in India..Fast,efficient and friendly..you go there twice and they treat you like family...
Once when I went there with my friend...this waiter actually coaxed me to order another cold coffee..even when I dint have enough cash..I refused every time..but this guy just goes off and gets another glass..my friend had to pay the bills..but the waiter chap touched my heart with his love...he kept on repeating that the second glass was to cool my system..*weep*
And lastly..theres no need for tipping the waiters..you eat for 29 rupees and you get your one rupee back..Ha!

3) "Indian" Coffee House
My third and final point is..go to ICH and you get reminded of your roots..you begin to appreciate all that is Indian about you...just suppose that the place is full..but you see that one family has almost finished...now only in "Indian" Coffee House can you actually go and stand beside their table, rest your frame on one of the occupied chairs and smile sweetly at the mother thinking aloud, "Get your kids and clear out, lady!" :D
Only in "Indian" Coffee House can you leisurely waste your time on one measly masala dosa when hundreds of others are standing beside your table smiling sweetly at you..only in ICH do you learn the first lessons in assertiveness..

To conclude id like to say that Indian Coffee House offers a genuinely Indian experience..with a few other perks..you take a girl to the family section and you can have all the privacy to let your heart out ;)...plus the one at Statue has a great view of the insides..so that you are warned in advance if theres any relatives inside...so if any of my NRI cousins get back to Trivandrum, be sure to try out this place..which has "Bharat Matha Ki Jai" written all over it :)
